Help! charger trippping the fuse box

Interesting problem, and you found the right fix and saved yourself some money. I do believe that its mainly a physical/mechanical connection between the two, and they sometimes get loose or break.... You may laugh at what I am about to write, but the US electrical system is also a single 220VAC...

Help! charger trippping the fuse box

Thats not odd, that implies that an earth leakage was the reason that an RCD tripped, and not an over current situation. Assuming of course that nobody has replaced the plug fuse with an unfuseable link! regards Andy

Help! charger trippping the fuse box

I don't feel, until more and accurate information is supplied, it to be ambiguos, it really does'nt matter in this case, if the older voltage style RCD (and not allowed anymore in the UK) or the later type current RCD is in place, as unless each circuit has its own separate RCD + over current...

First Build - What's your recommendation?

Many thanks, and I will check, but as far as I am aware, I don't have that disease!!! :) o_O :) o_OYet at anyrate! regards Andy

Which adapter for 160->180 mm disc?

You may be better off by only changing the front brake, as many say that balances a bike better better under heavy braking, and is more accessible. Some get problems at the rear with unforeseen contact with other parts. I myself am very happy with the huge braking effect of my standard 160mm...

First Build - What's your recommendation?

No problem, thats why we belong to Pedelec, to help others . One of those ways is to call the pot black, even if some take offence at the truth being aired..... My Mother always said "Tell the truth and shame the Devil!" I have heard that very steep hill climbing with front hubs can be a...

Help! charger trippping the fuse box

Actually it does unless the person concerned has no idea of the difference between an RCD and a circuit breaker/fuse. Rightly or wrongly, I took the meaning was that the whole fusebox went offline. And that is in the UK, most likely to be a ground short/leakage on the charger for some reason...

First Build - What's your recommendation?

I also suffer with Tinnitus, age related I am told, which makes it difficult to fall asleep I found. Till I started sleeping alone and putting on an all night radio station, although any music that I like, turned down low, allows me to not "hear" the Tinnitus anymore and I sleep like a baby! If...

Help! charger trippping the fuse box

A true RCD, only trips at a misbalance of current between the phase and the neutral of the value stated, as you posted, around 30mA or less.. Nothing to do with a short circuit where many amps may pass! Most RCDs are not built for any overload fault detection, that is a short circuit for...

Help! charger trippping the fuse box

An RCD is there to prevent electricity taking the wrong path, via a human for example, to ground. It only monitors Phase and Neutral currents, but not earth, as there is simply no need to monitor earth (won a few pints over the years from Electricians in pubs with that statement!), for any...

Help! charger trippping the fuse box

assuming that you live in the UK, that should not happen at all, even if the charger is drawing too much current. The reason being that with a 13 amp plug, you should only use a fuse of the lowest currect rating IN THE PLUG! That fuse should blow first, not the fusebox......If you haven't got...

KTM Elycan 27.5 with Panasonic rear motor

It may only be one cell in one bank......and it only shows up when current is drawn, it would appear, though it will usually be more cells than one.... Difficult to tell as you need to draw some current and simultaneously watch the voltage (and all while riding! Sorry, joke!!) Its not easy to...

KTM Elycan 27.5 with Panasonic rear motor

How long have you had the bike? Are you aware of the need to keep Li-ion batteries, always somewhere between their low and high point (vehemently discussed often here!), when not using the battery? I don't think its the BMS myself, but I await other opinions, but to me it looks just like a bad...

KTM Elycan 27.5 with Panasonic rear motor

Can you show us how you measured your battery, what its nominal value is, and what readings did you make from where inside please? A Photo or two maybe? Are you also certain that your meter is accurate? Did the battery sit long and unused before the problem started? The only way to be certain...

    Help. Ebike conversion

I am surprised that nobody else here, up to now anyway, has not made similar, or even better tips on glueing for you, as once you understand the points I just made, you are a KING! regards and I wish you a happy Easter for you and yours Andy PS. If you decide not to do it, that is still your...

    Help. Ebike conversion

Glueing, when done correctly, can often be better than welding. You only have to slightly rough up all the areas to be glued, then clean "intimately", using Meths and throwaway plastic gloves (get at least a dozen or more), as fingerprints are detrimental to the quality of the "hold"! Make the...

    Help. Ebike conversion

I forgt about Alumium, sorry. But a good way of joining alumium without welding, is to do as I said before, but with very generous overlapping joints, and then rough up with sandpaper, then clean well with Meths (not petrol as it leaves residues), not touching with your fingers either, and then...
