    EU ICE ban postponed indefinetly.

As I posted, not net zero from transport but by offset from other actions, like carbon capture and storage. E-cars will need a bit less of that than ICE cars over time. Net zero will only succeed if we succeed in the capture and storage of carbon. If that fails, net zero fails and a new...

    Another Ebike conversion kit death

Not to trickle charge, the charge should terminate when the battery is full. However if left switched on it can restart as part of the cell balancing by the battery's own management system (BMS). Hence that stricture to leave it on for a long time occasionally to get the longest life from it...

These symptoms probably mean it's still not dried right out as AGS says, they can be very difficult to get completely dry once these problems start. .

Too gloomy! Average daily mileage across the UK car fleet is half that, 7300 a year, 20 miles a day. Which in turn means most charging done at home overnight, just like now with 85% done that way for existing BEVs. So in turn mostly with green energy as the BEV fleet and green energy...

Agreed, if only because such fuels will be very expensive anyway. But where will they fill up as time passes? Such miniscule usage will never be able to support the existing chain of filling stations, nor will charging points since that industry has developed completely different models...

    EU ICE ban postponed indefinetly.

It's good to see that for hydrogen since it will enable fuel cells for long distance buses and coaches, not just bus fleets like those in some of our cities. For BEVs the TEN-T network is already largely covered with enough chargers already, a surplus over much of it. The problem remains the...

Heavy enough penalties to be a strong deterrence perhaps. Large fine, including confiscation and destruction of the car, plus a driving ban for using an uninsured vehicle since the vehicle will be illegal and therefore automatically uninsured. And of course we don't know if the synthetic...

    EU ICE ban postponed indefinetly.

What the EU does or doesn't do isn't relevant though, bans remain a national matter. The many countries in the EU or EFTA who have impending outright bans on ICE sales will still enforce them, as will Britain in 2030 (ICE only) and 2035 (Hybrid). Norway is the first, the last ICE car sale...

    Byocycles

I'd suggest you should to shield them from rain or spray entry. I've had experience of this with my folder. Normally ok, I took it down to Dorset to use it there. Putting it flat into the boot of my car while it was wet allowed water to run along the wiring onto the controller, so when...

It's the old story, "Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely". There's the USA, militarily the most powerful nation in the world. There's Russia with by far the largest land mass and natural resources of any nation. There's China, economically the most powerful nation through...

Sealing that hole off is the worse thing you could have done, it encourages condensation and prevents the controller housing drying out. It's better to arrange some shielding to deflect spray from entering the hole, while leaving it open for drying out. I'm betting that if you unsealed it and...

The only thing Putin has planned is getting out without it appearing back home that he's lost. He knows the USA and Britain failed in Korea, splitting the country into two and creating a nuclear armed hard line communist nation and a Russian ally. He knows the USA ran away beaten in Vietnam...

Highly unlikely. And I hope not since there's no such thing as climate-neutral fuels for IC engines. It's yet another scam like the climate neutrality of planting enough trees to compensate for CO2 produced. Capitalist greed over common sense. .

We had the original old fibre from long before Virgin bought the setup, it was called Cable back then. But years later Virgin installed the modern fibre along our main road. Then they updated by rewiring into the housing areas as each person wanted to be connected, exactly as I said. The...

We have VM fibre on our estate. If you order it they'll run it to you from the main road, then bombard all your neighbours with their propaganda to get some of them signed up to cover the cost of running it to your street. .

I know but am not bothered. I'm always fully backed up a minimum of three times and no SSD has failed me yet. When one eventually fails I'll simply replace it and restore the content, whether the OS or data. And I'll still have saved all the time that could have been spent waiting for...

I've been using only SSDs since they first arrived and have never had one fail. I even have my dual backups on them. Danish ISP one.com switched all their servers to SSDs a year or so ago and the web page opening speeding is great. There's no more dinosaur mechanical discs in my computing...
