Hoping to increase driver passing distance at night, I've glued front and rear reflectors to my wing mirrors.

What would turn up if I ordered this? The words or the picture? What would contract law say? https://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/FSACI3/sram-adjustable-cone-i3-freewheel-(1-pc)

Taxi changes direction at traffic lights

Numberplates at night... Is the answer flash plus a dedicated stills camera in addition to the video from the action camera? And a button on the handle bar to trigger it? Can things like Raspberry Pi camera be made to do this kind of thing?

Large Step-Thru that will take Bafang Mid Drive Kit suggestions please.

Nothing to stop a downtube battery being mounted on a rack.

    Kalkhoff pro connect S

45km/h is likely, as the S probably means speed pedelec. But not a bicycle in UK law.

The reflective tape helps hugely to make you visible. On moving parts especially, where there is always some pointing in the right direction, and the movement itself attracts attention. SOLAS tape is amongst the best. As used on lifesaving equipment at sea. Expensive per metre, but not many...

    LEF ebike/microcar

If vehicle permissible speeds were based on permissible kinetic energy, then the desire for speed would become downward pressure on vehicle weight, which then requires a smaller, lighter battery, which costs less. For freight, there would be pressure to use optimal vehicle and mode, which would...

    Help! BMS problem Carrera/Ridgeback

No, the generic bikes are not my specialist subject. I have used UARTs in other situations, so could answer that bit!

    Help! BMS problem Carrera/Ridgeback

3 wires are ground, transmit and receive. Transmit plus ground is the transmit circuit, Receive plus ground is the receive circuit. Will not work without the ground connection between the two communicating things.

    Most efficient travel

Wind resistance goes up with the square of the speed, so in simple terms, the slower the better provided the motor is operating close to its maximum efficiency, I.e. gearing is appropriate. But in energy per passenger mile, we are so far ahead, blasting at 25km/h on max assist is still orders...

    Bafang mid drive mod

I'll need to eat 1/3 of a humble pie! The Yamaha badged as a Giant came visiting, and it does indeed have a freewheel between crank and chainring.

    Bafang mid drive mod

I checked the Bosch I am borrowing at the moment and back pedalling whilst restraining the chain to force any freewheel between crank and chainring to freewheel definitely finds no freewheel there. It's a 2020 Performance line. I'll check the Yamaha next time it comes visiting, and I think I...

    Bafang mid drive mod

Not universally they don't! None of the three I have ridden have, which are Yamaha, Bosch and Shimano. I'm not aware that TZDZ2 or BBS0X have either. Certainly there is a clutch inside the motor gear train, but with no freewheel at the rear wheel, the pedals will always be going round when the...

    Short sighted driver kills cyclist

I might just go with a thicker foam layer. Less chance of it getting smashed through your skull as it tries to decelerate your brain.

    Bafang mid drive mod

I may be missing something here, but doesn't that mean I can't stop pedalling? Why is that a useful thing?

    Bike braking on freewheel

Check that your brakes are not binding by spinning wheels whilst off the ground. If that is all OK, then it may just be a matter of perception. Does this happen at all speeds, or is it more noticeable at higher speeds? It sounds similar to the effect I have on my torque sensor bike when I try...

Prices of the electricity we use to charge

Wave power has proved extremely tricky to commercialise, despite the enormous amount of energy sitting there apparently for the taking. Mainly because the sea is unforgiving, and 1200 times as dense as air, so can generate forces in bad weather that cannot be survived. Wind power on the other...
