    Help me buy an ebike

But look at all the work you've done to seal it. This is the trouble I think Paul refers to, most consumers rightly expect what they buy to operate well in the typical conditions they will be operating in, including bicycles in rain. In respect of rain pedelecs are often poor as the many...

    Help me buy an ebike

The law is identical here in the UK, 250 watt continuous power rating is the maximum allowed. Although we left the EU, all their laws we adopted during EU membership we transferred into a bill called the Great Repeal Bill, making them UK law too. Now we can only change them one at a time...

    Cheapish Motor Wheels

The attack you and Guerney have launched on Woosh was unjustified. He has simply been running a successful business that suits many customers in the small UK market and has not been whining over the years about Chinese suppliers while doing that. The whining you complain of was simply part...

    Cheapish Motor Wheels

I don't think it's a valid question at all, you are effectively saying that if one finds they have a competitor doing the same thing or better, they should pack up shop! That's how we ended up with losing our small shops to the dominance of supermarkets who now make us suffer for it...

Opinions Of Engwe engine 2 pro For 15 year old

You could anywhere in Europe and the EU, except Great Britain, Northern Ireland and Sweden. The other 26 EU countries know what being a bicycle in law means. .

    rental batteries

Actually proud of their high cycling rate. The 14 millions versus 37 millions is urban sprawl, in part a boundaries matter, rather like London's but on a much bigger scale. Our official population is 9.1 million which is false for known reasons, chiefly underreporting a highly mobile...

    rental batteries

Agreed in general, but of course this is Yamaha.eu, code for Netherlands where everyone cycles and getting on for half of all bicycle sales are pedelecs. So it could well work there, or in Tokyo where cycling is very popular among its official 14 millions but in truth more like 37 million...

Holborn cycle death: Woman was dragged under lorry, court hears

She'd have been wiser not to pull alongside or at least stay behind his indicator so she could see he'd switched it on to start his turn left. This was a major subject in here during the 2010s when we had lots of these nearside truck turn deaths with almost all being women cyclists, despite...

Prices of the electricity we use to charge

Not with BYD overtaking Tesla. It's BYD's Seal model that has leapt past Tesla's Model 3 both sides of the pond, and from £45640 here for example it's more than Tesla's Model 3 at £42990. There's probably more to this than price though, eventually some of the mud would have to stick to Tesla...

    Same Motor, Different Power Rating

I don't know the precise details, but as so often is the case, I'm sure these were motivated by EU protectionism, making the market tougher for China et al. Basically they are as said, defeating such as dongles by recording such uses making it much more difficult to break the basic rules...

Curious about the difference between allowed wattage for 250W LPM ebikes and normal EU ebike legislation

You are a born dictator, wanting everyone to conform to your opinion of what is right. We once had more of your sort of clear and enforced legislation and in the late 1950s it completely killed what had briefly been a highly successful assisted cycling market. Then that strictness went on...

    Same Motor, Different Power Rating

Agreed. I actually published a 2009 full version of EN15194 in my Pedelec Law - The Details thread back on 21st May 2020: https://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/pedelec-law-the-details.37594/post-558483 In that the continuous rate power definition is on Page 15 of it below...

    Same Motor, Different Power Rating

No problem. The DfT have confirmed that the usual 10% tolerance on speed limits applies here to, so up to 17.05mph is legal. It follows that the motor can be assisting that pedalling at 17mph. .

Prices of the electricity we use to charge

I don't know why that hasn't been attempted John, but I do know the huge effort that has been put into all aspects of research into all types of e-car batteries and charging from circa1990 to the present. So there must be good reasons why it doesn't attract. Asking Google: "why aren't...

Prices of the electricity we use to charge

Chargers can't be uplugged until the charge is switched off by the initiator. The plug and socket are locked together. For example,I can switch off the charge with a switch on my locked car dashboard or with a switch on my remote control, or with my contactless card that initiated the charge...

Prices of the electricity we use to charge

Excellent post overall, but you are wrong on lamp post and bollard chargers for two reasons. Firstly they are not fast chargers, they are slow overnight chargers. Secondly, as part of EV planning, the upgrading of street lighting has been widely used as an opportunity to dig up and rewire the...

Prices of the electricity we use to charge

It's not me who is blinkered. Why are those EVangelists using EVs if they are so unsuitable and why didn't they do their homework? They don't need to have them and the country doesn't need them to. Repeating once again, at our usual replacement rate of 1.4 million a year it will take 23...

Prices of the electricity we use to charge

You really are funny at times! Asking "who pays for that" after complaining about the standing charge. You do of course, that is what the standing charge is for, the infrastructure, and your area network supplier does the digging up etc. Depends what is meant by Fast. Most EV home...
