Having to replace Cassette after only 500 miles Cube Touring Pro 625

Doesn't take long to get used to it! And from your last, just change down before stopping and you won't be fighting the motor pulling away.

Having to replace Cassette after only 500 miles Cube Touring Pro 625

This is the problem! High torque motor in high assistance setting will get you up most hills without complaining, even if the cadence (pedal rpm) drops a fair amount. Easy to ride like that, but will destroy the only used gear in short order. If you ride a bit differently, by keeping cadence...

    Springtime refurb, good, bad, ugly...

Daylight is much improved, so spring can't be far away, even at 56° north! Time to put my bike back in road-going order. Part 1. Drivetrain. On paper at RRP, Shimano 11 speed, even my M5100 lowly stuff, is quite expensive. But by keeping my eyes open, opportunistic buying, a bit of luck, I am...

    Demo event

A little far away - 566 miles, but I'd drop in if passing!

Having to replace Cassette after only 500 miles Cube Touring Pro 625

Off the wall solution.... If your riding only needs the top few gears, would a cheap 8 speed setup make sense? Cheap as chips to replace bits, saves the expensive 11 speed for more demanding riding, might make the bike marginally less attractive as a theft target?

Having to replace Cassette after only 500 miles Cube Touring Pro 625

No, the quicklink is two identical halves, one pointing each way.... there is no wrong way! Think rotational symmetry, order 2.

The lights are on but nothing's turning...

When you say the lights come on, is that the front and rear bike lights, or lights on the ebike display indicating that it is switched on? And...does the bike itself ride OK, with assistance working as it should, or is there more wrong than just the lights? If the bike rides OK, I would not...

    Which PAS sensor for octalink?

I can't offer direct experience, but when I Google pas sensor octalink I think there is enough there to find the answer, including a list of previous threads on here, and products specifically mentioning hollowtech, and known supplier names such as psppower.

I don't know Sunrace at first hand, but I do not see the movement of metal on the teeth tips that your pictures show with my Shimano cassettes. I suspect a quality difference. The spec says you have an M5100 derailleur: these have a 'clutch' lever, which whatever else it does, gives higher...

Brakes Rubbing on Disc - cannot adjust

Once you've understood the mounting arrangement it is nothing to be fearful of. Just slightly slacken the correct! two bolts so that the caliper can slide left and right, and gently nip them up in stages, to hold it in the right position. It'll try to move as you tighten, but you soon work out...

Brakes Rubbing on Disc - cannot adjust

Careful! These are brakes you are fiddling with! Do not even attempt to mess with the bolts in your red rings. Look closely and you will see that they clamp the two caliper halves together. They never need touching once the brake has left the factory. The 'misaligned' thread is the brake pipe...

Are 20x4.0" Inner Tubes OK for 20x4.25" Tyres?

0.25 in 4 is a tiny mismatch. Smaller than the range of widths seen printed on non-fat bike tubes, so highly unlikely to be an issue.

Having to replace Cassette after only 500 miles Cube Touring Pro 625

Worst case is replace chain and cassette, but don't throw the existing ones away. With more miles you will work out what's happening and how to deal with it. I use ep90 oil too, because I do a lot of miles, and £8 a litre vs £8 for half a cupful seemed worthwhile! But it is messy, if I lived in...

Having to replace Cassette after only 500 miles Cube Touring Pro 625

When you say 'its good', is that 0.5% or less, or not quite 0.75%? Some tools only check 0.75 and 1%, which is too late.

Having to replace Cassette after only 500 miles Cube Touring Pro 625

Not normal, but can happen with lower quality components and certain riding styles. Also as @soundwave mentions, cleanliness and replacing chain before too far gone is essential, as is lubrication. Once you are fixed, get a proper chain wear measurement tool, one where you can read off the %...

Gardener choosing a bike for pulling a trailer around a city

I went the other way for shopping trips with my 700c wheels. In the early days before novelty wore off I used the Nomad trailer, which takes four big carrier bags with ease. But as time went on, I found two 20 litre panniers, a 45 litre mountaineering rucksack for lightweight but bulky items...

Are motor cut-off brakes legally required?

You don't want learn how important they are in front of a truck when your bike did not stop at a T junction. Many people have combined their own choice of brake caliper with the brake cutout function by mounting the sensor part in the right place and attaching a magnet to the lever using tape...
