    Diagnose Pendleton not working

Good question... I think it's several faults, really: The hub cable had been mounted badly, either from purchase or during an in-warranty repair by Halfords. As a result it had worn through the insulation and snapped a phase wire. Replaced the cable... Opening the motor (a bafang rear hub...

    Diagnose Pendleton not working

Thanks @Nealh . It's still the original sensor that came with the bike, and it used to work until recently. So I'm going with "it's broken" and will put in a replacement...

    Diagnose Pendleton not working

After replacing cables to avoid any electrical shorts, I now have at last power to the wheel. Although only in walk assist mode. Normal pedalling does not kick in the motor. As per your advice @Sturmey , I've checked the PAS sensor: red led turns on with power-up from the handlebar controls...

Pendleton Somerby - how to fix broken cables at rear hub

I'm still checking out all other components before taking the plunge to buy a new motor / conversion kit, but do you have any vendors you can recommend for a full kit, @Sturmey ? Doesn't hurt to start window shopping... Thanks!

    Diagnose Pendleton not working

Thanks guys. Just measured the MOSFET: Each phase wire to ground / negative: approx. 19.5kOhm Each phase wire to positive: approx. 800kOhm There's no discernible difference to me when rotating the wheel with controller connected / disconnected. Can't find a wiring diagram, but very naively I...

    Diagnose Pendleton not working

Thanks @AGS and @Nealh , it is indeed the same motor as in my other thread. For future visitors' reference, the "toast" picture is below. Would it be better to swap the full wheel now, with a suitably rated motor inside, or can I just swap the motor insides? Any reputable sellers of wheels /...

Pendleton Somerby - how to fix broken cables at rear hub

Could that mean a broken motor? Wonder if I can do some sort of continuity check on the windings?

    Diagnose Pendleton not working

My partner's Pendelton Somerby stopped working recently. She heard a low clunk noise just before it stopped providing power assist. Initially I thought it was a broken hub going into the hub (which certainly didn't help), but after fixing that the bike still doesn't kick in the motor. The...

Sorry, didn't realize you were selling that. Managed to source one from a colleague, but will come back if that's not sufficient.

Pendleton Somerby - how to fix broken cables at rear hub

@Ghost1951 I think it was caused by poor rear hub installation: there's a notch in the axel thread for the cable to bend nicely. But the notch was pointing straight up and so the cable was bent over the axel edge which then wore through the insulation and cut some of the wires :( @saneagle...

Pendleton Somerby - how to fix broken cables at rear hub

Thanks Nealh! Will give that a go tomorrow. I was convinced it's a cassette with lock ring... Good to be able to ask and learn! The cable damage is right by the hollow axel, so will need to replace it. Do you by chance know if a) replacement cables exist and b) who sells them? Thanks!

Pendleton Somerby - how to fix broken cables at rear hub

Hi, Does anyone here know how to remove the cassette on a Pendleton somerby and/or how to fix broken cabling near the axel? My partner's Somerby ebike stopped assisting today. Battery is charged, controller turns on, but no support when pedaling she said. There is a "hall sensor" issue...
