Thanks all. I've begun my quest to determine it's origins... I'll keep you informed of my findings.
Anyone know of a good sand-blasting and powder coating company in the SW London or Surrey area that isn't going to break the bank?
Cheers
Matt
Hi Jerry
They are 20" Wheels and the tyres say 20 x 1.75 which doesn't indicate it's very old as you would expect them to be 20 x 1 3/8.
I'm not sure if its a manufactured bike or whether it's something someone has built but the mechanism where it joins/separates in the middle looks pretty...
I've just picked this up at a car boot sale as a bit of a project. I'm considering putting a hub motor on the front but there's a fair bit of work to do first.
Does anyone know the make/model? I can see no badges/branding on it at all.
Hi tcblue
I'm not interested myself as I'm happy with the set up I have but perhaps it's worth stating where you are to enable people to understand how far they would have to travel to collect.
Cheers
Matt
Ordered, received and fitted both the 3-speed gear trigger and the Air Zound horn and can highly recommend both.
The Gear trigger is so much quicker and easier than the stock Brompron gear shift but it did require I move my thumb throttle to the Left-hand side of the handlebars.
The Air...
In the picture of the bloke riding one, he doesn't appear to have one of the seat posts that bends backwards as in the first picture. This puts him much closer to the bars.
A short update:
I've blown up my CA! I think I tore the speedometer cable and in an attempt to check the voltage across the pads it connects to, my multimeter probe slipped and there was a bang and a bit of burning :(
I contacted Justin who gave me some instructions to determine whether it is...
Hey cwah - could it be that the 16" wheel the simulator is referring to is the 317mm version rather than the 349mm used on the brompton?
My 16 x 1 3/8 349mm tyre has a circumference of exactly 1300mm.
The Cycle Analyst manual has a table of circumferences for popular tyre sizes and...
Some pics as promised
My controller and wiring is stashed in this nylon bag (its the bag to an old British Airways supplied Power Adapter for Laptops (before they switched to the U.S Power socket)
My Battery stored in the font bag. Note the B&Q quick release plug and socket similar to those...
Hi All
On another run yesterday, I managed 25mph according to the road speed camera and display - but that was with some pedalling on approach to it and then using the motor to maintain the speed as I passed it.
I've just re-measured the circumference of my tyre and I did have it set in my CA...
Oh my god - this is awesome. I still have a huge grin on my face.
I just went out for a quick spin and it pulls me at 22/23.5mph (23.5 according to the CA and 22mph according to the speed camera/display we have down the road). I can easily get up to 27mph when pedalling fast and if I changed to...
Thanks so much alfazzr - that was indeed the problem.
It should have been:
Controller > Motor
Yellow > Green
Blue > Yellow
Green > Blue
And my CA says its running at 30mph under no load!
Ben - no offense taken. I'm not a stupid man but I do sometimes cut corners in terms of reading up on...
Hey alfazzr - the more I read about this, the more your suggestion makes sense.
Here's an excerpt from a thread on Endless-sphere:
A correct Hall/Phase wire combination will run very smooth and draw very little current (1 or 2 amps) under no-load testing. A wrong Hall/Phase wire combination...
Hey alfazzr - I'm willing to try anything at this stage so I appreciate the suggestion. I've decided to give it a rest for tonight but I'll certainly check my wiring again tomorrow.
I suppose the other possibility is that even if I have the colours matched up correctly, there is a chance the...
Hi Ben
I've tried emailing Ed 3 times now to ask about the software and Shunt settings and he just doesn't respond. I won't be recommending him if that's his after sales approach. He was certainly prompt in replying when I expressed an interest in buying the controller.
I've also tried...
Well folks, I've tried all sorts of Shunt settings with the CA and controller configurations and this motor just doesn't like 48v. I can get about 10mph out of it freewheeling if I allow the controller to pull about 25A but then the controller gets super hot and the wires begin to melt. It's...
Thanks Ben, that makes alot of sense.
When you say 'take off the current limit on the cycle analyst', is that just setting it to a high value such as 99A?
I'll try to have a play with it next week (I'm away this weekend).
thanks
Matt
Hello All
Sorry for lack of an update but I've been super busy work with work recently and very little time to concentrate on my bike.
I've received my wheel back from Alan - great job Alan - thanks again!
I've wired everything up and am finding that when I have my cycle analyst connected, I...
A quick update
My motor is with Alan (catsnapper) being re-laced into a 36h 349mm CR18 and I hope to receive it within the next couple of days.
In the meantime, I've received lots of packages in the mail:
Lyen controller + USB-TTL programming adapter
Cycle Analyst
Thumb throttle (didn't like...
I was in Sydney two weeks ago and I can say that there are certainly some steep hills running up from Darling Harbour and through China Town. I was thinking I'd be hard-pushed to make it up them on my Brompton.
