Today’s trading update from cycling retail giant, Accell Group, shows Q3 continuing to plot an upward trend for company turnover in 2015, with the company “expecting a growth in turnover and profit for the full year 2015.”
The group are Europe’s market leader in electric bikes, employing 2,800 and selling brands which include Batavus, Sparta, Koga, Lapierre, Haibike and Raleigh. Accell Group sold 1.7 million bicycles last year.
Continued growth was recorded as largely driven by healthy sales of the company’s German and French brands, resulting in turnover for both bicycles, parts and accessories being higher than the same period of 2014.
René Takens, Accell Group CEO, said: “The positive trends seen in the first half continued into the third quarter and the month of October. Our turnover and profits were up, due in part to the growing proportion of electric bikes and higher-end sports bikes in our sales. The market for electric bikes is dynamic in many European countries and we are seeing our sales increase in those markets. In the Alpine countries in particular, we are seeing strong growth in the sales of performance e-mountain bikes.”
