The quiet Surrey town of Coulsdon, home to several major auto dealerships, is shortly to be joined by Cycling Made Easy. While the town may be an unlikely place for a transport revolution, CME has grand plans to steal the limelight from the well-established car brands in the area.
Cycling Made Easy first opened its doors in 2010 and has doubled its turnover each year since, leading to the need for a new, larger showroom.
Ray Wookey, director of Cycling Made Easy, says that the opening of the showroom will make people sit up and take notice of electric bikes: “Auto dealerships dominate the main routes into Coulsdon – Audi, VW, Renault, Honda and Land Rover are all here. To open our large e-bike showroom right in the middle of ‘car central’ is a bold move. We’re sending out the message that e-bikes have arrived and cycling should be as central to urban travel as the car is.”
Croydon Council has also engaged the company to pioneer e-bike use for cycle training and for a new hire scheme at Croydon Council HQ.
