I've just read on Endless-Sphere that Finland has increased the power limit for electric bicycles to 1000w to encourage electric bicycling. Lets hope other EU countries follow them.

only if other countries also do the same , otherwise they will be lagging behind down the road!

But if you put 1000W of power on an e-bike .won't you need, a nuclear reactor to power it?

It's cold in Finland, how would one of our bikes stand up to such conditions?

It gets to minus 20o C in winter, but they do get less rainfall than us.

No - good quality cells like the Panasonic NCR's can do 3c all day long - I'd imagine 48v batteries will be the target for any 1000w bike so take a 48v10ah battery built with Panasonic NCR cells and that gives 1500watt capability.
