New battery tech actually going into production !

This seems a really interesting partuclarly

1) the safe/no thermal runnaway
2)a nominal voltage of over 4v per 18650 cell
3) The fact it is actually going into production this year
4) The lucidrously fast charge time

I read this and the sense of ennui that I usually get when reading about battery tech vapourware was happily absent !

People here are pretty jaded re new battery tech, there has been literally hundreds that just evaporate, can't be produced etc.
We will all be cheering if there is a big battery break through but until then, yawn seems the normal response

Kaname Takeya, the technical director, co-owns a patent on flourinated carbon (he refers to it as carbon complex, but it's nothing new) - the technology of making Lithium battery with CFx is not new either.

It's been dubbed 'battery of the future' since 2010. There is some truth in it, but they make wild claims.

They make these big announcements to get funding or investment, so that they can do more research. Also, they need to convince their current investors that they're getting somewhere.

The only announcements you should take notice of is when Sony, Panasonic, Samsung, etc announce that they have a new cell for sale.
