Hi all
Still not got my ebike, and am a little confused regarding gears on ebikes.
I notice that most ebikes employ Shimano 6/7/8 speed, but ECO EXPEDITION PUT 21 SHIMANO GEARS on theirs ! Why the discrepancy ? and doesn’t that mean that Eco Expedition are better value for money and....easier to ride !

no to both.

there is not much difference in cost between a single crankset and a triple crankset at the low end of the market, on ebay: £15 for a triple crankset, £13 for a single crankset.

It's the technology that costs money.
Single crankset saves weight and maintenance.

KEN OPENSHAW,

I posted in Introduce Yourself by mistake.

You can read about the Eco Expedition here:
http://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/eco-expedition.24306/

The price may be attractive but, without even considering the Eco's other features, a 10ah battery is not going to be much use on hills with a heavy rider.

Benjahmin's post (#4) is a good one and offers sound advice:

Personally I would recommend you to go for the Woosh Big Bear LS with hydraulic brakes. The BB has a 15ah battery with Samsung cells.

Remember that you also come down hills as well as climb up them and hydraulic brakes are far superior to cable disk brakes.

Woosh has a good reputation and any tweaking/servicing can be done by any local bike shop.

Get it ordered and catch the last of the summer weather!
