They're very expensive for a cable sensor at £54 a pair with shipping, and I can't see any significant difference from the HWBS from BMSBattery, which are a lot cheaper at £25 a pair with shipping, or £7.50 a pair if you buy other stuff.

These are currently the cheapest cable sensors that work very well. Just cut them off and chuck the rest:

They are 20mm shorter than the BMS ones, £7 each and most importantly can be purchased in either direction of operation so can be fitted directly onto the brake levers.

I didn't see that that was the price for four. You can get te other type in both directions too.

can it be adapted for hydraulic brakes?

Unfortunately not. It has a little screw that clamps to the bare cable. The flap then gets compressed against the cable outer and operates a micro switch.

This brake sensor claims to be for hydraulic brakes. It’s not too expensive but I’ve no idea how or if it works. Anyone tried one?

They've got the right idea with that one, but it could be developed to make it look better. It's similar to the Wisper Daa hub ones. You can make something similar with UPVC intruder switches.
