A thought.....on adverts

I've noticed we get a lot of adverts in the classified from new members who join just to sell their bikes. No contribution other than an advert.

On other forums I've joined there's usually a minimum post count before adverts are accepted.

What does the members think about this? Say 30 posts before advertising?

I do see your point @Crockers . However, the minimum post count, required by some forums, can be a bind and encourages spam posting, before they can eventually get to the point.

If they're joining just to sell a bike, us having first shout can only be a good thing. I've snagged a couple of good bargains on here myself. Albeit both from seasoned members.

I'm not bothered either, just thought it might get more active membership. Then yes the spam route is a possibility. But that can be monitored.

One of the other forums I frequent has a no newbie posting in the classifieds rule, trouble with that is that I've been on the forum for nearly a year, but still have only 48 posts, therefore I can't put anything up for sale. Not really fair for the non prolific posters.
